In 2020, Jamie Rhodes took the creative helm as both writer and director for the deeply moving and critically acclaimed film Amputee, a project commissioned by A-Safe. This film is set against the backdrop of England's industrial north and is rooted in the true story of Lisa Ramos, a young mother whose life takes a dramatic turn following a workplace accident that results in the loss of her leg.

Jamie's adept storytelling and direction bring to the forefront the rarely discussed aftermath of such traumatic incidents, focusing not just on the physical recovery, which is daunting in itself, but more so on the profound emotional and social ramifications. Through Amputee, Jamie Rhodes skilfully navigates the complex web of Lisa's mental health struggles, the shifting dynamics within her family, and the challenges in her relationship with her son, painting a vivid picture of the resilience required to face a new reality.

The narrative also thoughtfully explores the broader societal impact of sudden, life-altering injuries, highlighting how the journey of recovery extends beyond the individual to touch the lives of those around them. Amputee is a testament to Jamie's ability to weave compelling stories that resonate on a deeply human level, spotlighting his talents in both writing and directing. This film not only showcases his skill in crafting engaging narratives but also his sensitivity and insight into the human condition, marking him as a filmmaker of exceptional depth and empathy.
